A BIOS rootkit is programming that exists in a system's memory hardware to enable remote administration. 

BIOS rootkit은 원격 관리를 활성화 하기 위해 시스템 메모리의 하드웨어에 있는 프로그램입니다.

Rootkits may be installed for legitimate purposes, such as digital rights management (DRM) or data or device security but they may also be targets for persistent attacks. 

루트킷은 DRM(디지털 권한 관리) 또는 데이터 또는 장치 보안과 같은 합법적인 목적으로 설치될 수 있지만 영구적인 공격의 대상이 될 수도 있습니다.

The BIOS (basic input/output system) is firmware that resides in memory -- rather than on the hard disk drive -- and runs while a computer boots up. 

BIOS(기본 입출력 시스템)는 하드 디스크 드라이브가 아닌 메모리에 상주하는 펌웨어이며 컴퓨터가 부팅되는 동안 실행됩니다.

Because a BIOS rootkit lives in memory, it persists not only through attempts to reflash (update) the BIOS but also through hard drive erasure or replacement. 

BIOS 루트킷은 메모리에 저장되기 때문에 BIOS를 다시 플래시(업데이트)하려는 시도뿐만 아니라 하드 드라이브 삭제 또는 교체로 지속하고자 시도합니다.

Originally, the BIOS firmware was not writeable.

원래, BIOS 펌웨어는 쓰기가 가능하지 않았습니다.

However, most manufacturers now use an erasable format, such as flash memory. 

그러나, 대부분의 제조업체에서는 이제 플래시 메모리와 같은 지울수 있는 형식을 사용합니다.

The use of an erasable format makes BIOS updates easier but also leaves the BIOS vulnerable to online attack. 

삭제 가능한 형식을 사용하면 BIOS 업데이트는 쉬워지지만 BIOS는 온라인 공격에 취약해집니다.

A BIOS rootkit attack is an exploit in which legitimate BIOS programming is updated with malicious code.

BIOS rootkit 공격은 합법적인 BIOS 프로그램을 악성 코드로 업데이트하는 공격입니다.

이제 고1 2학기 중간고사가 끝났네요!! 전과목에서 5개정도 틀렸는데 제가 모르는 실수로 더 안틀렸으면 좋겠어요 ㅜㅜ

솔직히 고등학생이 되니 블로그를 꾸준히 하겠다는 장담은 못하겠지만 최대한 꿈을 향해 노력할 것이고(그것이 블로그가 아니더라도) 내신 관리는 정말 철저히 해야겠습니다!

BIOS rootkit 공격은 제가 좋아하는 미드 'Mr Robot'에서도 나온 공격이죠! rootkit을 어떻게 짜는지에 해커의 실력이 드러나는 부분이기도 할 것 같네요!!
